Michael James is an over the top architect, with a past that is all but typical. Growing up in New York high society he was afforded every privilege one would expect. From extravagant cars and designer clothes to a world class education at a top private college -he had it all.
Growing up as a gay male in a society defined by old world tradition, proved to be a challenge he couldn’t possibly be prepared for.
In Michael’s debut novel “Tempted to Touch” he shares his first hand experience of coming of age during the LGBT transition of the new millennium. Michael hopes that his unique story will help break down barriers, and stereotypes that still exist today. He hopes to give a voice to others like him, who have struggled to break free from the stereotypes that society inflicts on them...while recounting true stories of wealth, sex, love, and betrayal.
Tempted To Touch
Fairy tales are supposed to have happy endings, where true love's kiss saves the day and everyone lives happily ever after. But for a gay man growing up in New York, life is rarely anything like a fairy tale.
Tempted to Touch details the story of my life, beginning in childhood and going on through the trials of love and loss, from my closeted high school years to the secret romances of my adult life. But unlike fairy tales, there is no promise of a happy ending, and no magical kiss can save the day. It is my hope to expose the world to a side of life they never get to see, one filled with eager experimentation, secret midnight rendezvous, the New York night life, parties, drugs, danger, and revenge.
